A Digital Mothers Day Gift Guide
Mother’s Day is approaching. Many of you are “the mother” but maybe you have other mothers to shop for or maybe you want to invest in/treat yourself.
Here are some ideas.
Part One is “on brand” —as in gadgets and resources that are tech/parenting related
Part Two is— well— some things I like as a human person in the world who happens to be a mom
Part One: Techie Stuff
Gadgets
I’ll say it again. I absolutely love The Brick for helping me minimize my time on social media. I just used it last week on Spring Break to turn my iPhone into a dumb phone and it was glorious
For those ready to take a bigger step and actually get all the unnecessary stuff of your phone–-The Wisephone is fantastic.
And a few other items a mom can always use
Tech/Parenting Books
IMO these four are essential reading for parents trying to get a solid footing in the quicksand of the digital parenting world.
Careless People ←Just came out and everyone is talking about it
Hold On To Your Kids ←Helping me understand behaviorally why Elementary School is too young for Group Chat
Tech/Parenting Newsletter Subscriptions
If you’ve got someone who’s rather get info in smaller doses, here are great newsletters for anyone building a foundation of knowledge. The last one is, admittedly, just straight up parenting humor but I would argue humor is essential!
Thoughts From A Digital Mom ← Gift a subscription to THIS newsletter
After Babel ←This is Jonathan Haidt (Author of the Anxious Generation)’s Newsletter
Soul Snacks ←Caitlin is so funny and so relatable
Tech/Parenting Courses
Taking the stress of tech at home off mom’s plate by giving her the roadmap for setting it up safely and correctly feels like the ultimate gift to me. Gift a digital parenting course or, even better, take it yourself! Use code SPRING10 for 10% off either of my flagship courses.
All About Apple - How to set up parental controls for literally any apple device for literally any kid
Tweens & Tech - How to get a handle on Group Chat, Social Media and Devices
Part Two: Sarah’s Stuff
i.e. what I like/use/read/recommend
My Favorite Things
I recently freaked out about the toxicity of nonstick pans and replaced ours with these from Caraway
I’m also obsessed with my Salad Chopper which lets me pretend I work at Sweetgreen
And a few other of my favorite things that other mothers might like
This beachy candle from Nest
This classic hand cream from L’Occitane
This cashmere wrap/blanket from White + Warren
This CrossBody or pretty much anything from Clare V
My Favorite Books
Shop your local bookstores, but if you can’t, here they are Amazon links. Please note these are definitely beach read vibes. I did not include any true crime — I’ll save those for another day :)
Happy Mother’s Day!
