Tracking our college kids?
I was recently asked to contribute to an article for CNN about whether or not its “normal” to track our college-aged kids. As I say in the piece, “I’m ‘not surprised’” to hear that parents who have grown accustomed to beings able to see their children’s locations through an app on their phone are not rushing to stop. In this digital world where it feels like danger lurks around every corner, parents and kids take comfort in safety measures like these. And, while I do think parents and kids need to transition out of digital monitoring becuase its essential for kids to start to build resilience and independence, I do think its ok if it takes a minute.
